Number Format

Use the Number Format panel to set the number format for a cell or range.

To access this command...

From the keyboard:

From the sidebar:

Open the Properties sidebar deck and expand the Number Format pane.

Applies the default number format to the selected cells.

Applies the percentage format to the selected cells.

Format as Currency

Applies the default currency format to the selected cells.

The default currency format for a cell is determined by the regional settings of your operating system.


To apply a different currency format, click the Format as Currency icon, select a currency from the list, and click OK.

Category

Select a default format from the dropdown list.

Enter the number of decimal places that you want to display.

Enter the maximum number of zeroes to display in front of the decimal point.

Changes the font color of negative numbers to red.

Inserts a separator between thousands. The type of separator that is used depends on your locale settings.

With scientific format, Engineering notation ensures that exponent is a multiple of 3.
